Anwesh Sahoo selected Mr. Gay India 2016
Mumbai, 29 January 2016
20 year old Anwesh Sahoo- an engineering student and blogger from Delhi has been selected as India’s representative at the Mr. Gay World contest. He won the title at a Pride event in Mumbai last Sunday.
“Almost four years back I finally put an end to months of self-denial, accepted my true self, and assured myself of how I am not here to suffer, I am here to make an impact… Perhaps the most difficult part of this journey has been waking myself up every morning and telling myself- My dreams are indeed valid,” said Anwesh in a Facebook post.
Sahoo will be mentored by Sushant Divgikar, who had represented India at the pageant in 2014 in Rome. Last year India could not send a contestant because the nominated person had to back out following pressure by community members back home.
We certainly hope the 2016 edition- which is slated to be held in Malta- will give India reasons to be proud, and wish Anwesh the very best on this journey!
