He was filmed, allegedly by students, while having consensual sex with another man in his home on campus at the Aligarh Muslim University.
The film was circulated among university authorities. Professor Srinivas Ramchandra Siras was then suspended, accused of “gross misconduct” and an inquiry was ordered against him.
Dr Siras took his case to the Allahabad High Court, arguing that the cameras placed in his home without his knowledge were an invasion of his privacy. He also said the action taken against him by the university violates the recent court order that has decriminalized homosexuality.
Now, Dr Siras has won a reprieve with the Allahabad High Court staying his suspension. This means he can go back to work. The court, however, has not given its opinion on the departmental inquiry ordered against him.

Prof Siras will, I'm sure, be regarded as one of the great gay martyrs of India.
My agony goes out to all those Homophobes who thinks they are some sort of heroes when they echo there shameless Remarks to make us feel less of ourself. I am so ashamed that I am living in a country where we still have to witness Homophobia upto an extent that leads to a vicious death such as Dr.Siras. who was a highly accliames professor in Aligarh Muslim University. How many more gay Killing these people want. I know dr. Siras is safe and sound in God’s embrace. I even know that Dr. Siras death or murder rather won’t go unnoticed. A revolution has started and no once can stops it.. Thatnks to those gay activists and people liek dr. siras who are making the younger generation the LGBT YOUTH feel a burden on their should and act responsibly to end Homophobia.
