La nation’s most a-la-mode men’s fashion fiesta ‘Van Huesen India Men’s Week 2011’ dazzled the ramp with 17 coveted designers last month. Sourendra Kumar Das reviews some of the gifted designers who specialize in men’s line and brings forth an estimate of this au-courant third season…
This season of VHIMW’11 saw serious male fashion on la rampe avec ample doses of celebrity glamour. The modish three days proved a point in kick-starting a truly alpha affair, countering extra metro-sexual overtones while the second day balanced it out in terms of chic innovations.
The fashion fiesta presented a feast of designs for male fashion lovers, from gothic a-la-mode to color blocking, geeky styles to machismo chic, formal wear to preppy fashion, and the likes. “My newest collection in VHIMW was a smart fusion of geeky appeal with twilled pants and crunchy cotton trousers in treated ultrafine jerseys,” revealed Sanchita Ajjampur, a Bangalore based designer.
This season also saw designer bonanza, as the crème de la crème of menswear came together creating a fashion coupe. “There is this ‘masculine trend’ seeping into women’s fashion, lending clearly structured and clean cuts, neutral colors, to clothes that seem to have been borrowed from a girl’s boyfriend’s wardrobe yet re-interpreted in a feminine way” added Ajjampur.
This season also saw designer duos Abraham & Thakore, Rohit Gandhi-Rahul Khanna, alongside Abhishek Gupta and Rajesh Pratap Singh, came together to present their power-packed fashion parade. Adding some celeb dose to this men’s week were Robert Vadra, Dino Morea and Irrfan Khan while grand finale saw Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif walking the rampe for Varun Bahl and Karan Johar.
So, this season of Van Huesen India Men’s Week 2011 saw loads of fashionable men walking in a-la-mode attires in Delhi. The fiesta ended in a modish way, with fashionistas promising to come back next season all dressed up in their chic attires…
