I AM is the first crowd sourced film in India with over 400 hundred people from 35 cities across the globe contributing towards the making of the film. This latest film of Onir consists of four short films exploring such themes as child abuse and same-sex relationships.
“I AM is a tale of 4 stories woven together that takes audiences through issues and dilemmas that bruise the modern Indian society” revealed Onir. The film unfolds many a tale of individuals struggling to find their identity, and uphold their dignity in a world that is callous, cold and unsympathetic.
There are 4 stories but the characters are interwoven with each story Abhimanyu is based child abuse, Omar on gay rights, Megha about Kashmiri Pandits and Afia on sperm donation. The scripts for Abhimanyu and Omar were nominated for Triangle Media Group Global Awards. It also won the Audience Award at the 2010 River to River, Florence Indian Film Festival, the Best Asian Film Award at the International Film Festival of Kerala, and the I-VIEW Film Festival’s Engendered Award for Human Rights.
